Accessories

Improve your installation

Our Metal Detector System accessories are available to accommodate the needs of unique installations like non-vulcanized belts and aid contaminant identification.  The Splice Detector System allows the use of a metal detector in belt conveyor installations where a metal splice is being used. The Dye Spray System marks the general vicinity of where the metal is located in the product.

DYE SPRAY SYSTEM

Spray Marking System is used to mark the log or board so an operator can identify and remove it from the production stream.

SPLICE DETECTOR SYSTEMS

MDI Splice Detector System allows the use of a metal detector in belt conveyor installations where a metal splice is being used; generally used in long belt Aggregate applications.

SHOCK MOUNTS

Shock Mounts are used to isolate inherent vibration allowing the metal detector to function at its best.

Dye spray system

Developed as an aid to our customers who require product contaminant identification, the MDI Dye Spray System marks the general vicinity of where the metal is located in the product. This system is basic in nature and does not require major modifications to install. Primarily used with the wood products industry, the Dye Spray System will most often times be utilized in conjunction with a metal detector programmed to automatically reset itself once metal has been detected. This signal sent from the metal detector activates the Dye Spray System, marking the contaminated product as it continues downstream where the product will be removed for closer inspection. This system is available in two gallon or five gallon dye capacity and is a pneumatically operated device.

Splice detector systems

MDI understands that not all belts can be vulcanized and that some conveyors require the longevity and ease of service that a metal splice provides. Because of this customer need, MDI offers a Splice Detector System. This system allows the use of a metal detector in belt conveyor installations where a metal splice is being used.

Installation requirements for this system are minimal and internal wiring is completed in house by MDI technicians prior to shipment. We do, however, advise any customer using a Splice Detector System of its inherent limitations. Simply put, the portion of the belt containing the metal splice is ignored, meaning that anywhere from one to five feet of the belt is ignored, depending upon the speed of the conveyor belt. We recommend vulcanized belt splices be used with our metal detectors, but also understand that this option is not always feasible.

Shock mounts

Used throughout many industries for a variety of applications, MDI engineers have carefully chosen specific varieties of these industrial duty machine mounts to accommodate our metal detectors where needed. MDI offers Shock Mounts for each type of metal detector we manufacture, each one serving its intended purpose of isolating the metal detector from inherent vibration. When installed properly, shock mounts will greatly reduce vibrations transmitted through the search coil support structure that can cause the metal detector to false trip.
